Punjabi Kadhi

Punjabi Kadhi is a delicious preparation of Yogurt and Gram Flour. The Pakoras are fried and mixed in mild natural Yogurt with some selected spices. This is a good accompaniment to Chapattis or Rice.

Preparation Time:
15 min

Cooking Time:
30 mins

Ingredients:
For the Pakodis

Gram Flour - 1 Cup

Coriander Leaves / Cilantro chopped - 2 tbsp

Turmeric Powder - ¼ tsp

Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp

Green Chillies finely chopped - 1 tsp

Salt to taste

Oil for deep frying

For the Kadhi

Yogurt beaten - 2 Cups

Gram Flour - 2 tbsp

Turmeric Powder - ¼ tsp

Salt to taste

For the tempering

Cinnamon - ½ inch stick

Cloves - 2

Dried Red Chillies - 2

Coriander Seeds - ½ tsp

Cumin Seeds - ½ tsp

Fenugreek Seeds - ¼ tsp

Ginger grated - 2 tsp

Chilli Powder - ½ tsp

Oil - 2 tbsp


Method:
• For Pakodis, mix all the ingredients except Oil. Add little Water to make a thick batter.

• Heat Oil in a deep pan and fry a spoonful of batter till they are crisp and golden brown in colour. Drain these on a tissue paper and keep aside.

• For Kadhi, mix the Yogurt, Gram Flour, Turmeric Powder and Salt with 2 Cups of Water. Make sure there are no lumps.

• Then bring this to a boil.

• Heat Oil in a pan and fry the tempering ingredients for two minutes and keep it aside.

• Pour this tempering over the Kadhi and simmer for 10 minutes.

• Then add the Pakodis into the above Kadhi and cook for few minutes.

• Serve hot.
